There are two types of optic cables. The standard Toslink (a fairly square plug with a key) and the mini 1/8″ (3.5mm) round plug. All this device does, and all it was ever suppose to do, was convert the Toslink output from a device to a mini optical cable. Period.
This adapter simply converts a 3.5mm round OPTIC cable to a standard Toslink OPTIC cable.
IT WILL NOT ADAPT THE OPTIC OUTPUT TO A HEADPHONE OR OTHER STANDARD AUDIO OUTPUT! In order to do that you need a device such as this: “Digital Optical Coax to Analog Stereo Audio Converter, USB DAC Headphone Amplifier”.
